The problem

The challenge

Coleford Electrical Services is Matt's company. He set it up in 2007 in Coleford, in the Forest of Dean, and covers Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and the towns around them. He does lighting and sockets, outside lighting, new installations, full rewires and electrical testing.

He's got 39 Google reviews and a 5.0 rating. One customer had an electrical fire starting in their house, and Matt came out at an hour's notice to find where it was coming from. Another said he came out the same day.

His old website didn't really use any of that. The homepage opened with a long heading, "Electrician Forest of Dean & Gloucester - Coleford Electrical Services Ltd", over a blue stock photo. Further down, the pictures were stock images and icons instead of his own jobs, and none of his 39 reviews were on the homepage.

Our approach

What we did

We found Matt on Google and built him a free website from the photos in his old gallery, his own wording and his Google reviews, and sent it over.

The headline is just "Electrician in Coleford." Next to it is his rating, 5.0 from 39 Google reviews, and underneath is a row of his own jobs: kitchens, a bathroom mirror and gardens lit up at night. Every photo on the site is his own work.

When Matt saw it, the only thing he asked for was the trade logos from his old site. So NICEIC, ECA and Registered Competent Person now sit right under the top of the page, as that's one of the first things people check when they're picking an electrician.

Each type of job has its own card, and his reviews are on there in full. The about section is in Matt's words: set up in 2007, a small company that cares about aftercare, with a 12 month guarantee on all electrical work. There's a questions section covering qualifications, areas and what's in a free quote, and the areas section lists 12 towns and villages next to a map.

On a phone, there's a Call Matt button stuck to the bottom of the screen.

The new site is on a new domain, and it went live on www.colefordelectrical.com on 4 November.

A closer look

Inside the build

  1. Some of our work: Matt's own photos of bathrooms, kitchens and garden lighting, with filters for each

Every photo is one of Matt's jobs, from kitchen downlights to gardens lit up at night. His old homepage used stock images.

  2. The Google reviews section: what customers say about Matt, 5.0 from 39 reviews

One of his customers wrote about Matt coming out at an hour's notice to find an electrical fire. A review like that sells him better than anything we could write.

The site's live at www.colefordelectrical.com.

It's only been up a few days, so we don't have any enquiry or ranking numbers to show yet. As soon as we do, we'll put them on here.
